Responsibilities

Major Capital Projects has overall responsibility for the delivery of the reconstructed WTC site, Gateway Program, PATH Extension to Newark Airport, the new PABT, as well as the Bayonne Bridge Project.   

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Sr. Program Manager/Engineer of Construction (EOC), the selected candidate will support efforts in the management, oversight and coordination of all construction activities associated with the various construction projects for Major Capital Projects.  The successful candidate will assist in the management of day-to-day contractor activities for all construction projects on site to ensure that construction is completed within budget and the contracted schedule.  This includes coordination with facility Operations; construction inspections; investigating construction problems; identifying the need for and documentation of Extra Work;  producing daily narratives and other required field documents; performing contract administration procedures in accordance with PA standards; review of payments to contractors; ensuring construction is performed safely and in accordance with all approved plans, specifications and approved shop drawings; tracking contractor Requests for Information (RFI), ensuring RFIs are resolved in a timely manner, resolution of contract extra work and audits.

This is a long term, project position.

 

Qualifications

Candidates must present the following qualifications to be considered eligible for this position:

Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited college or university.
•A minimum of two (2) years of progressively more responsible experience in construction management, including progressively more responsible supervisory experience.

Ideal candidates will present the following profile:

Desirable:
•Demonstrated experience in construction focused on mechanical and/or electrical or engineering. Experience in the maintenance of project plans, construction staging/sequencing, setting priorities and incorporating facility operations and security requirements into project plans.
•Familiarity with building construction industry in the City of New York, as well as all applicable jurisdictional building codes (i.e., building codes of the City of New York and OSHA).
•Familiarity with established PA Construction Management procedures.
•Demonstrated leadership, problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
•Strong oral and written communication skills, including report preparation.
•Strong organizational and time management skills.
•Strong interpersonal skills, including demonstrated experience interacting with executive management and construction professionals within and outside the Port Authority.
•Demonstrated knowledge and implementation of construction strategies, processes and procedures.
•Experience supervising and coordinating Port Authority construction projects.
•Experience and working knowledge of project management software including, but not limited to, Autodesk, Constructware, Primavera, Contract Manager, Wintrak and Excel.
•A valid N.Y. or N.J. driver’s license.
