Assistant Compensation Analyst

The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey is seeking an Assistant Compensation Analyst in the Human Resources Department to work on a variety of ongoing compensation initiatives. The job responsibilities include:

  • Perform quantitative analysis of compensation related data using queries and Microsoft Excel to create reports.
  • Assist in the processing, evaluation and classification of agency jobs.
  • Enter and update job codes and salary ranges in the agency’s HRIS system. 
  • Complete standard and ad hoc compensation surveys as requested by external sources.
  • Review, analyze and compare survey results with the compensation of agency staff.
  • Conduct compensation related research via the internet, publications and other sources.
  • Contact internal and external sources to gather information for benchmarking.
  • Assist in developing compensation related training content and presentations.
  • Assist with the analysis, development and maintenance of job descriptions.

Note - This is a long term, temporary position that is not eligible for benefits.


Candidates must present the following qualifications to be considered eligible for this position:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business analysis, accounting or related field. Graduate level work is desirable.
  • Knowledge of human resources and compensation practices; 1 year of work experience or internship experience in compensation is highly desired.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with demonstrated ability to perform quantitative analysis.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
