Responsibilities

The Principal Financial Analyst will report to the Finance Manager in the Chief Security Office’s (CSO) Security Business Resource Management & Planning (SBRMP) Department.  The SBRMP Finance group provides support to all CSO departments including the Public Safety Department. 

The Principal Financial Analyst is responsible for overall budget development and regular financial reporting: 

  1. Budget development for police labor by updating the post by post review and staffing assumptions;

  2. Regular reporting and analysis of overtime and other hours worked for internal management as well as for MBD’s monthly overtime steering committee meetings;

  3. Maintain and enhance Public Safety data in various reporting and analytical systems, including PeopleSoft, ScheduleSoft, and Cognos;

  4. On an as needed basis, promote efficiency and best use of Agency financial resources by completing special analysis, and creating new reports and tools.

Qualifications

Candidates must present the following qualifications to be considered eligible for this position:

  • Bachelor's Degree in business administration, finance, public policy, or a related field;

  • Demonstrated experience completing analyses, reports, and/or other analytical products;

  • Demonstrated ability with analyzing data, identifying trends and issues, and proposing/ implementing solutions;

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite programs, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint;

  • Must be able to pass a police background check

Desired

Ideal candidates will present the following profile:

  • Experience using PeopleSoft, ScheduleSoft, BudgetPro and/or SAP systems;

  • Ability to present detailed information in clear and logical manner;

  • Ability to manage and complete multiple projects and tasks simultaneously;

  • Demonstrated organizational skills;

  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively with Port Authority staff at all levels.
