Senior Economic Analyst

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager, Project Finance, the position manages cost control associated with WTC Construction and Major Capital Projects.  The position will be responsible for leading a team of cost engineers responsible for maintaining and tracking budgets and corresponding forecasts utilizing in-house budget forecasting processes and SAP-formatted accounting data for actual cost identification and tracking.  Lead the cost engineering team in the compilation of monthly Cost Reports for projects within the Program and compile a Program-wide Summary that integrates other cost forecast information as necessary with the Cost Report information.  Interface with the Cost Accounting/Finance Group to assure a seamless flow of accurate actual cost/forecast data and proper segmenting of same for budget purposes.  Maintain Program-wide databases for allocations, preliminary change-orders and executed change-orders.  Coordinate the production of ad hoc reports (ex. Project close-out, balance-to-spend, insurances, etc.) as may be required.

Qualifications

Candidates must present the following qualifications to be considered eligible for this position:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field from an accredited college or university
  • A minimum of five years (5) of progressively responsible experience in a financial capacity.

Desired

Ideal candidates will present the following profile:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of business and financial transactions.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Port Authority (PA) accounting, budget, financial policies and procedures including the PA Board process.
  • Significant project management experience with projects of similar size and complexity.
  • Thorough knowledge of general PA policies and procedures, as well as those related to project management systems.
  • Self-starter with the ability to assume a leadership role and make decisions.
  • Working knowledge of Port Authority corporate systems including SAP, Contract Manager Cognos and Budget Pro.
  • High level of proficiency in MS Excel
  • Applicants must meet all performance and attendance standards and have completed all probationary periods.
