Responsibilities

The role will be responsible for producing comprehensive and accurate research and developing programmatic content including print, writing briefings, memo, brochures, banners, blogs, emails, press releases and public statements for cross-functional purposes. The candidate must have excellent writing and proofreading skills for a range of assets such as videos, websites, print and marketing material, advertisements, event scripts and programs.  This roll will support the agency’s efforts to provide timely, accurate, robust, and value-add content for decision-making and communication with our customers.  This is an exceptional opportunity to do innovative work that impacts the bi-state region’s visitors, businesses and residents.

This role will partner with Marketing, Media Relations and various customer service teams that support senior leadership and external resources. 

  • Develop ideas and creating compelling written materials that effectively communicate the Port Authority’s priorities to a diverse group of target audiences.
  • Draft content and develop material, presentations and other marketing collateral in alignment with brand standards.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of communication plans and materials, and recommend communication strategies and implementation approaches.
  • Identify new trends and platforms.
  • Research, write, edit, and review content for print and digital platforms.
  • Research, compile, copy, edit, format and draft briefings for senior leadership in advance of meetings, conferences, speeches, and other events.  Respond to urgent and last minute requests.
  • Ensure all materials meet internal standards and follow appropriate corporate standards, guidelines and approval processes.
  • Support processes for information sharing and opportunities for storytelling.
  • Identify improvement/efficiencies that support operational excellence and supports business initiatives.
  • Mentors other communication specialists and support staff.
  • Support and collaborate with the other departments and initiatives as needed.

Qualifications

Candidates must present the following qualifications to be considered eligible for this position:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in journalism, communications, English, marketing, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
  • A minimum of three years of experience as a writer or content producer with strong editing skills. Experience writing for government or elected officials is strongly preferred.

  • Strong project management skills and proven ability to support key communication initiatives
  • Experience writing for digital communications and content management.
  • Self-starter, analytical thinker and who can contribute out-of-the-box ideas
  • Exceptional ability to turn complex information into easy to understand, compelling narratives, and able to communicate in a persuasive and compelling manner.
  • Detail-oriented, extremely organized, able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrate superior verbal communication, research and analytical skills.
  • Excellent judgement, able to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in editing software such as Final Cut Pro as well as Microsoft Office Suite including PowerPoint.
