Senior Trial Preparation Coordinator

Responsibilities

The Law Department is seeking a Senior Trial Preparation Coordinator for our Litigation group.  The Coordinator will support trial attorneys responsible for civil cases in the state and federal courts.   The job requires negotiating with internal and external personnel to locate necessary records; identify witnesses; alert attorneys to potential issues; identify and retain appropriate experts; and coordinate with outside investigators to serve subpoenas.  The successful candidate will have strong organizational abilities, computer skill, interpersonal skills, and familiarity with the federal and state courts in New York and New Jersey. 

Responsibilities
Reporting directly to the Assistant General Counsel, the Senior Trial Preparation Coordinator is responsible for a wide range of duties that include but are not limited to the following:

  • Coordinate with Port Authority departments, facilities, and PAPD to obtain discovery
  • Coordinate meetings with witnesses, and arranging for their appearances at depositions and trials
  • Coordinate hiring of experts and arranging for their appearances at trial
  • Continue developing a roster of trial experts in such fields as medicine and engineering, among others
  • Hire and work with investigators who assist in trial preparation
  • Foster relationships with line departments that encourages cooperation in assisting with litigation matters
  • Coordinate with City, State, and local authorities to obtain information and document discovery

Qualifications

Candidates must present the following qualifications to be considered eligible for this position:

  • Bachelor's degree or 3 years of relevant work experience
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
  • Relevant experience includes Claims, Paralegal or Investigative experience that required the ability to execute quickly, problem solve, and effectively communicate with diverse groups of people.

  • Proficiency with computer software (e.g., MS Word, Excel, Outlook)
