What you may not know is that the Port Authority has an Operations Fellows Program, an opportunity for passionate individuals to help shape the legacy of our transportation network. As part of this program, we are looking for maritime professionals to join our Port team in its mission to enhance the operations and infrastructure of the New York-New Jersey seaports. Over the last 95 years, the Port of New York and New Jersey has been at the forefront of the maritime industry. This is your chance to join us as we prepare for the next century.
The Operations Fellows program within the Port Department is a program for individuals with an interest in building a career in maritime industry and an aspiration to manage people in the future. This program is a two-year rotational experience designed to provide individuals with exposure to a number of areas of port, which may include the following:
In addition to the rotational assignments in the Port Department, individuals will be able to learn more about the overall agency through executive networking sessions and facility tours in other areas of the Port Authority. They will also be exposed to leadership development opportunities through customized training and workshops, individual coaching, and mentoring to prepare them to become future leaders who will run the Port Authority’s critical operations. Upon successful completion of the program, Operations Fellows will be considered for key positions within the Port Department.
Operations Fellows will be selected based on academic achievement, analytical and communication skills, and work experience. The selection process for the Program is highly rigorous and consists of multiple rounds of interviews, including a qualitative interview, a competency-based panel interview, and multiple assessment exercises.
