Responsibilities

Reporting directly to the Manager of Strategic Analysis & Forecasting, this position serves a crucial role for the team that develops models, industry intelligence and strategic analysis to support the Aviation Department’s business and strategic plans, terminal and capacity improvements, and revenue estimates.

The Senior Economic Analyst manages the unit’s Oracle database and is responsible for using Tableau and other forward-looking second generation data management tools to:

  • Monitor the accuracy of airline reporting statistics
  • Audit aircraft weights for flight fee billing
  • Manage the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) All Cargo data for (AIP) funding submission
  • Move our data entry process from traditional to web-enabled-password-protected direct data entry by airlines
  • Develop aviation forecast models and creative reports

 

Qualifications

Candidates must present the following qualifications to be considered eligible for this position:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • Two years’ experience in a Data Analytics environment or equivalent
  • Experience with database programming languages and coding (i.e. Oracle-PL/SQL or related platform)
  • Proficient in business intelligence systems (i.e. Tableau, Cognos)
  • Experience handling databases and large data sets for quantitative analyses
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Word and Power Point)  

 

Desired

Ideal candidates will present the following profile:

  • Master’s degree with major course work in Data Analytics for Business, micro/macro-economics, statistics and applied econometrics and forecasting from an accredited college or university
  • Proficiency in the use of data-display, data manipulation software packages and good presentation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize assignments and handle multiple task simultaneously
  • Familiarity with aviation related databases: OAG, DOT Data
  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with PA staff at all levels and outside agencies
